Once again, Hockey with Heart was out on the streets of Unionville collecting food donations for our annual Food Drive. This year, we had a new member join the HWH team, Wayne Nishimura. He took on the very important role of coordinating the food drive. He had some big shoes to fill as we had benefitted from the leadership of Vic Steane for many years. Along with Vic’s guidance, Wayne did an amazing job this year.

A change that was implemented this year was allowing a little more time for donation collections. This was based on valuable feedback we received from donors. A letter and bag was dropped off at homes a week before pick up. This gave potential donors more time to gather items and participate. It was a huge success and again, we thank everyone for their generosity.

All of these good deeds would not be possible without the Unionville Minor Hockey league, members of the Unionville Men’s Hockey Club and their families and Markham Fire.Donations are taken to the Markham Food Bank and Unionville Alliance Church where they are sorted and offered to those in need.. Once again, we partnered with the Village Grocer who provide the bags to fill up as well as the trucks to collect the donations.

We are proud to report that the donations were great this year once again!
