Our partnership and annual funding of The Children’s Wish Foundation, a wonderful organization that our colleague Dennis Fortnum has championed for over 20 years, has resulted in Wish Trips for 2 young children, Justin Grant and Sean Evans, from our community who face significant life challenges. I can’t describe to you how much a difference these trips make for these children and their families in their troubled times.

The story that really exemplifies the essence of what Hockey with Heart is all about, this year is the Keep Sean Moving project recently completed. Sean Evans is a mobility challenged local Children’s Wish child. We became aware of Sean through Pete Sands. We approached the Evan’s family with an offer to renovate their home to better accommodate Sean’s personal mobility requirements. We pulled together a great team of guys from our UMHL who pulled together other associates of theirs to provide whatever was needed for the project. Over a 3 week period while the Evans were away on holiday, the team, project managed by Larry Roma and John Cabrelli, completed a $40,000 renovation that makes a discernable difference in the lives of Sean and Angie and Bruce, his mom and dad. It blew them away when they returned home. When Angie spoke to us at the Golf Tournament, her expression of profound gratitude was overwhelming. The guys in this room that made this profound difference are Larry Roma, John Cabrelli, Pete Sands, Russ Gregory, Pat O’Hanlon, Jeff Shotbolt, Joe Dykeman, Tony Palleschi, Rob Tonelli, Dave Atkinson, Dave Creighton, Bill Steele, Dave Templeton, Brian Grott, Mike Moffat, Joe Shearer, Scott Forrestall, Brian Grott and Don Williams. These guys really did step up!!!
